How to be a successful non-union actor

Success PLAN for non-union actors, models, filmmakers 


Situation assessment for this current year:
1.     What went right?
2.     What went wrong?
3.     What can you do better in the next 12 months?

Goal setting:
1.     Did you set specific and measurable goals for the last 12 months?
2.     How many goals did you achieve?
3.     Did you fall short on any of your goals? Why?
4.     What are your goals for the next 12 months?

Activity:
1.     How much training did you attend for acting?
2.     How many auditions did you go on?
3.     How many roles did you submit for?
4.     Did you sign up for a legitimate casting website?
5.     Did you seek a manager, or agent? Do you need one?

Entertainment business networking:
1.     How many entertainment business-networking events did you attend?
2.     How many independent filmmakers did you meet this year? Who?
3.     Did you send follow-up emails to every person that you met this year?
4.     How many emails did you personally send to casting directors, managers, and agents to introduce yourself?
5.     Did you attend any film festivals or premieres?

Social media:
1.     Do you own a website? You need one.
2.     What is your BRAND? When I think of you, what should come to my mind?
3.     Are your posts interesting, relevant, and consistent?
4.     Do you respond to all comments and messages from followers?
5.     What have you gained from social media, financially?

Digital content:
1.     Would you have a current video reel, at the request of a casting director?
2.     How recent, and how good are your Headshots?
3.     Do you have a text and photo blog as part of your social media strategy?
4.     Is your photo portfolio diverse enough to show many different looks?
5.     Do you have a voice-over (V.O.) reel to submit for auditions?

6.     What do you sell on a digital platform to earn income? E-book, downloads?

All of this information will help you go down the path of becoming a union actor with 
SAG-AFTRA. There are many ways of achieving different levels of success. What is your definition of success?
