How can I be a better business person?

How to make progress in your professional life... Leadership and Success rules...

Small Business Administration

This is a simple list of things that I know can make your professional life move forward in a positive manner… from experience:

1.       Be on time.  15-20 minutes early is the standard.  Always plan ahead for traffic and travel.

2.       Never “No-show” an appointment.  If you MUST no-show, then call ASAP to reschedule.

3.       When someone gives you a business card, you have 72 hours to follow-up.  Send them a simple email with your information and how you intend to grow that relationship.

4.        Maintain a pleasing personality.  People do not want to work with negative people.

5.       Have a value proposition.  What is the reason someone should hire “YOU?”

6.       Dress neat and be neatly groomed.  Clients want to see professionalism.

7.       Have a PLAN.  Actually write out a plan of what you would like to accomplish, discuss, or research.  You MUST write it out (or type it) for it to be real.

8.       Have a continuous “to-do” list in front of you.  If a particular task does not get accomplished today, then move it to the next day.

9.       Must maintain LASER, INTENSE, FOCUS.  No matter what you do…. LASER, INTENSE, FOCUS

10.   If you notice that you talk about doing more things than actually doing those things…. STOP IT!  You’re not fooling anyone except yourself.  Get to work!

11.   Be concerned with helping people with their situation before being concerned with why nobody ever wants to help you.  What have you done for someone lately?

12.   Be aware of your physical activity.  Exercise relives a lot of stress and helps you think more clearly.
I hope this helps!
Very Respectfully,
George Ohan

Leadership for entrepreneurs & small business

Leadership for entrepreneurs & small business
(5 minute read)

As a former U.S. Army Staff Sergeant and currently serving Active Duty Hustler, I would like to offer a few points of interest that might help a business person. These are things that I’ve learned from mentors, past experiences from life, military service and business situations.

1.     Only delegate tasks to trustworthy and responsible people. Don’t trust a dumbass with an important task.

2.     You MUST delegate a certain amount of responsibility; then, let it go.

3.     Have a PLAN. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

4.     What are you doing to help others along your journey? Write it out.  How do you add value to the lives of others?

5.     To build a team, you MUST become a better leader. Self-Growth. Define leadership.

6.     People are looking for someone to follow. Be a LEADER. Are you doing something worthy enough to gain the interest of others?  Who will help you BUILD your vision? What positions do you need filled; put names of people who you know on a "wish-list" team.

7.     Are you fulfilled by your work? Do you offer fulfilling work to others? When you ask someone to “help” you, is it bullsh*t? …Or, do you involve that person in something worthwhile?

8.     Accountability. When you ask someone to do something, do you follow up? Call, email, text, social media inbox, by any means necessary. "I need my sh*t."

9.     Heart & Desire. I can’t teach you to “WANT” it… Is “this” what you really want? What do you want from the efforts that you are putting in?

10. What is your definition of success? ..Ask yourself and your team this very serious question. Know what’s important to you, and the people who are closest to you. You want to ensure that you’re all moving in the same direction.

Try to answer these questions with yourself, and your current or future team in mind. Entrepreneurship is a team sport. Always be assessing your situation, while being prepared to take ACTION. At any moment you may need to pivot your business strategy. If something is not working, you must change it to survive.

If you need a Coach or Mentor please contact me for my consultation services. A couple of hours together might save you a lot of time. Are you heading in the direction that you imagined for yourself?

Small business owner, quick tips for growth

Small business owner, quick tips for growth

1.     Do NOT have an “intern” handle your social media accounts. You can’t trust the BRAND of your business with someone who does not understand how to properly communicate online with potential customers.
2.     Focus on 5 or less social media sites. FOCUS.
3.     Direct your customers to your website. Do you have a site?
4.     Gather emails; set up a consistent email campaign for return customers.
5.     Set goals for what you want to achieve weekly. Accountability.
6.     Does the amount and type of activity you’re doing, match your desired goals?
7.     Does your digital content  (Video & Photos) serve your story and brand?

If you can’t or don’t want to handle your digital content needs, there are people like me who would love to take care of your “computer work” for you.
