BLOG - The African Film Festival streaming on Rootflix by Executive Producer David Foxx

My name is David Foxx,
Executive Producer,
here in California, USA.

David Foxx
Executive Producer

I would like to extend my support to The African Film Festival and Rootflix for their huge accomplishments in 2020!

Mr. Kelechi Eke is showing the worldwide filmmaker community that leadership and innovation can be used for adaptability and continued success.

Do you know of another platform, on EARTH that will be releasing over 50 films directly from Africa, produced by African filmmakers, and available to the worldwide diaspora of African people?

I personally do not.

We MUST support this mission.

As an American, we usually ONLY get the “Hollywood” version of what is Africa. When people experience the content on Rootflix and The African Film Festival, we can get a real sense of different cultures, clothing, food, music, and more about authentic Africa and the beautiful people who live there.

It is highly important that we preserve this message. The filmmakers are creating amazing stories, we must share it for them. These are authentic stories told by filmmakers who KNOW their culture.

Watch the movies!

All global independent filmmakers should reach out and create relationships with filmmakers and talent in Africa. Build your teams, and include filmmakers from Africa.

Thank you again to Mr. Kelechi Eke for being such a visionary and leading force behind this very important mission. I encourage all filmmakers and independent film lovers to share information about Rootflix and The African Film Festival.

You know a World War II Veteran? What's their story?

CLOVIS - Calif. 2017

Have you ever had a conversation with a World War II Veteran? It really does Enrich ones life. Don't worry, You still have more chances! However, We are losing the “Greatest Generation” at a very fast pace, but there is still opportunity to save some of their stories using digital technology. Read about what they're doing in Clovis, California.

Central California is unique in many ways as it pertains to military Veterans. One of the coolest things that I have personally seen is the “Stories of our Veterans” section on the Clovis Veterans Memorial District website, which is a Virtual Memorial to WWII Veterans. Click on “Glimpses Into History” to see  a fun and interactive way to learn about the people who shaped our present day United States of America.

“Glimpses Into History”  is a dream come true for any filmmaker or writer looking for that unique un-told military story. Video, Social Media, Interactive Maps, and more are all included in each Veteran’s presentation that the audience gets to experience. The “Story” is easy to find when you have a website devoted to first-person accounts of World War II Veterans.

This initiative was made possible by the Clovis Veterans Memorial District to help preserve our history. Have you ever heard of the term “Island Hopping” in a military context? If not, be sure to watch the Kenneth Owens interactive video.

You can read about Veterans recounting their memories of their service during WWII from a first hand perspective. These stories are told in the words of the World War II Veterans from Clovis, California and the surrounding Central California cities. Please encourage your community to start a similar program.

This is forward-thinking technology for most places that preserve U.S. military Veteran stories. As the video is played, an interactive display will show live Maps that you can control, Data Visualizations and additional information about what the Veteran is talking about.

Multi-Media is an amazing tool for “EduTainment” ( Education + Entertainment) for young students and adults. Technology like this is making it easier for local Veterans to tell their stories to local people, who care to learn more about them. Teachers and students are also finding these videos as being helpful learning tools.

Unlike traditional video, The user chooses what to look at and what to focus on. This is what makes this website more interactive and different each time a person uses it.

Clovis Veterans Memorial District understands that it takes a special group of people to take on a project like this. During every summer Adult & Youth volunteers gather to create the documentary style content for the Veterans. These films honor the life and service of each Veteran to the best of the volunteer’s ability.

Did you know that the library of Congress has a project too? It’s called the Veteran’s History Project (VHP) and it’s worth looking into. Our country has been built on many amazing stories that must be saved for our future generations. Please take a moment to explore “Glimpses Into History” and share the stories that speak to you.

Glimpses into History:

The Clovis Veterans Memorial District is dedicated to serving our veterans and our community, and has been since 1946. We're proud to honor all members of the armed forces, including those who have served in combat positions. These stories of our veterans are just one of the many ways we can preserve their memories and honor our veterans.
